Terra Introduces RGB Color and Dimming to its LED Light and Sound Bollard

Tower-Black-on RED

All the colors of the spectrum and variable intensity add to lightscaping flexibility and beauty.

Terra is dramatically upping the flexibility of the LED lighting section in its Patent Pending LS.32 lighting and sound bollard by making RGB color and dimming options available. Designer/installers will soon be able to give their clients the option of choosing white or colored illumination for their landscape lighting. Control capabilities will include dimming, single color lighting and automatic continuous color shifting. The custom manufactured MR16 RGB lamps employed are designed for outdoor use and may be exposed to the elements.

The new Terra 12-volt RGB dimming power supply, controller, RGB amplifier and RGB lamps are designed to work within the DMX512 standard for lighting control. This ubiquitous control standard—initially developed for commercial theater and concert venues—provides enormous control flexibility and a vast choice of off-the-shelf controllers from simple single universe models up to elaborate multi-universe types. Additionally, using dedicated interface units, the DMX512 standard can be integrated with Crestron, AMX and other third party residential and commercial control systems. Further, the recent advent of residential LED lighting systems has led to a dramatic expansion of DMX512 residential lighting control integration.

“Offering RGB color capability and dimming greatly enhances the capability of the LS.32 light and sound bollard. In both residential and commercial applications, the client can now customize their outdoor lighting color scheme and light levels by addressing individual lamps through the DMX digital control standard. We are working closely with advanced lighting suppliers and are planning to ship a fully integrated system by years end. The result will be a superb outdoor sound and lighting system that can transform any outdoor area into a sonic and visual wonderland.” said James Banfield, president of Terra.

While in the final stages of engineering, the new RGB capable LS.32 will open doors to a vast number of commercial and residential lighting and sound possibilities. The potential is enormous when you combine color shifting dimmable lighting with superior sound reproduction all designed for full-time all-climate exposure. Terra plans to ship the RGB enabled LS.32 by January 1, 2015.

Prototypes of the advanced lighting system will be on display at Terra’s CEDIA Expo booth number 836.
